After her vision, Kwan returns to her father’s old base. Meanwhile, Soren returns to Madrigal, motivated by a sense of duty to Master Chief to protect Kwan. They are soon cornered by Vinsher Grath and his private army.

Kwan ventures into the desert to find a group of mystics known as the "Desert Witches". To uncover her family’s purpose, she undergoes a ritual where she drinks a hallucinogenic liquid. This triggers a vision where she repeatedly fights (and is killed by) Master Chief until she stops her rage and listens. Halo 1x7
