The story is set in in the village of Hrabove, near the Ukraine-Russia border. It follows Irka (played by Oxana Cherkashyna ), a heavily pregnant woman, and her husband Tolik (the late Sergey Shadrin ). Their lives are violently upended when a stray mortar—accidentally fired by pro-Russian separatists—blows a massive hole in their living room wall.
