Latin Quarter Access

The (Quartier Latin) is the intellectual and bohemian heart of Paris, stretching across the 5th and 6th arrondissements on the Left Bank. It earned its name in the Middle Ages when the area's many students and scholars—centered around the world-renowned Sorbonne University—spoke primarily in Latin. Today, it remains a lively maze of narrow medieval streets, legendary English-language bookstores, and monumental landmarks that tell the story of Paris from its Roman roots to its revolutionary spirit.
