Set in the early morning of "Hell Day" (November 1, 1988), the episode introduces four 12-year-old newspaper delivery girls—Erin, Mac, Tiffany, and KJ—in Stony Stream, Ohio. While out on their routes, they are harassed by local teenagers and eventually encounter a group of strange, masked individuals.

Adolescence, friendship, and the disorientation of time travel.

The situation escalates when the girls are caught in a conflict between two warring factions of time travelers. While trying to recover a stolen Walkman, they find a mysterious mechanical device that accidentally transports them from 1988 to the year 2016.
