Serving Sara (2002) 【Direct Link】

Perry improvised much of his character’s witty and sarcastic dialogue to inject more humor into the script. Cast & Crew Highlights REVIEW: "Serving Sara" pointless and tasteless

The film follows Joe Tyler (Matthew Perry), a down-on-his-luck process server tasked with delivering divorce papers to Sara Moore (Elizabeth Hurley), the British wife of a wealthy Texas cattle rancher (Bruce Campbell). Upon being served, Sara offers Joe a million-dollar counter-proposition: if he ignores the original service and serves her husband instead, she can file first and secure a much larger portion of the $20 million estate. The two embark on a cross-country chase while being pursued by Joe’s rival, Tony (Vincent Pastore), and a psychotic bodyguard.

Perry performed a chase scene involving a monster truck despite having a broken foot; the director later noted that the actor was at genuine risk of being run over if he had stumbled.

Filming was famously halted for two months when Matthew Perry checked himself into rehabilitation for prescription painkiller addiction. Director Reginald Hudlin managed the delay by filming as many scenes as possible that did not require Perry's presence.

Released on August 23, 2002, is a romantic comedy that arrived at the peak of Matthew Perry’s Friends fame. Despite its high-profile leads, the film is often remembered more for its troubled production and critical reception than for the movie itself. Plot Overview
