Soilent Grün was formed in the Berlin district of Spandau. The band underwent a pivotal change in 1981 when their original guitarist, Kai-Uwe Schmidt, had his guitar stolen. He was replaced by (later known as Farin Urlaub ), who joined forces with drummer/vocalist Dirk Felsenheimer (later Bela B. ).
